Welcome to the official website of Nizhny Novgorod Fair.
As one of the largest exhibition solution providers in Russia, we are committed to raise the level of our expos and conventions, complying with requirements of international exhibition industry and preferences of global business community. With the help of highly skilled experts we regularly host new events and extend the expository and theoretical parts of ongoing expos and forums. Therefore our expos and conventions excel by representing all recent trends and innovations of economy leading industries.
Constant enhancement of exhibition complex results in geographical expansion and upward trend in financial and quantitative indexes of expos and forums. Just over the past five years we have added 10 new projects related to education, nuclear power complex, chemical industry, consumer industry, emergency systems and technologies to the Nizhny Novgorod Fair exhibition program. Noteworthy, the first global bus exhibition BUSWORLD in Russia was successfully held at Nizhny Novgorod Fair in 2010.
Through well-coordinated work and timely implementation of recent exhibition trends our expocenter qualifies as the industry top performer along with the largest Moscow showgrounds. It is Nizhny Novgorod Fair that hosts presentations of the latest achievements in the field of production, healthcare, construction, agriculture, IT; social development conferences; crucial country and region level sessions and coordination boards featuring government institution leaders and foreign delegates.
Therefore Nizhny Novgorod Fair continues to be the venue with unique opportunities for communication and introduction of the latest developments worldwide.
In February, 1990 a new idea about restoring the tradition of fair holding in Nizhny Novgorod started up. The first Prologue exhibition fair was hold in May at the ancient fairgrounds. It supposed to be an ad hoc event, and nobody could imagine that this project might really become a prologue of Nizhny Novgorod Fair recent history. In half-year the board of Fair directors was formed. On November 5, 1991 the new organization was named National Joint-Stock-Company Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka.
Through the years since rebirth, we have managed to recreate former traditions and transform the Fair into a state of the art expocenter. Annually the Fair’s showgrounds are allocated to present innovative projects and scientific research. All business dimensions are represented in forums and expos subjects: healthcare and education, IT and banking, car industry and agriculture, architecture and art, ecology and defense.
2011 was the year of Nizhny Novgorod Fair anniversary – 20 years as from the date of formal rebirth. During that period the Fair captured its share in exhibition business, hosted hundreds of expo projects attended by millions of exhibitors and visitors. Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev, "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher, Mstislav Rostropovich, members of the British Royal Family, Head of the Imperial Family of Russia, the Queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Beatrix, leading Russian and global politicians, artists and scientists, official delegations of China, the Netherlands, Japan, Italy and India visited the Fair.
Historically Nizhny Novgorod Fair has been the center of attraction for latest Russian and global achievements, therefore exhibitional business in Nizhny Novgorod has been contributing to Russian and worldwide developments and progress for many years.
The Fair’s activity has definitely accounted for Nizhny Novgorod unveiling to the global stage as well as Nizhny Novgorod region economic attractiveness. Today the Fair is a regional business center, where people exchange opinions and ideas and search for most demanding problem solutions. Also it is one of the most spectacular sights, delightful for both visitors and Nizhny Novgorod citizens.
In 2004 the national CJCS Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka became a full member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), that comprises global and national exhibition associations and their partners worldwide. For Nizhny Novgorod Fair it means that all expo projects held in its showgrounds must perfectly comply with global standards of exhibition business.
Interesting fact: in 1925 the Fair was the only Russian representative of 20 founders of that global organization. But it withdrew membership in 1929, when the Soviet government decided to close the Fair down. After 75 years, Nizhny Novgorod Fair regained global approval. At a regular meeting in Rimini, UFI board of directors decided to affiliate the national CJCS Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka to UFI and provide it a “full member” status in “exhibition center” and “exhibition organizer” categories.
UFI come-back process appeared to be lengthy and multi-level. For almost 2 years UFI commissioners had been performing a detailed check of Nizhny Novgorod Fair facilities, equipment and practice of exhibition holding. The UFI membership used to be granted once for all, but since recently, Global Association of the Exhibition Industry membership is reviewed triennially.
To qualify for Global Association of the Exhibition Industry membership the organization must comply the following requirements: an expo should be approved by public authorities; foreign exponents number should be at least 20% of the total exponents; foreign guests number should be at least 4% of the total visitors; promo materials and official catalogue must be published in host country language and in one of the three European languages (English, French, German), etc.
Today UFI contains 580 full members from 215 cities, 84 countries and 6 continents.
Nizhny Novgorod Fair has become the sixth Russian full member. The national scientific and industrial forum “Russia United” had been granted the status of “UFI approved event”. In 2005 national CJCS Nizhegorodskaya Yarmarka regained the status of Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) founder again.0
Another thing to be proud of is the idea of creating the institute to coordinate the whole Russian exhibition business, that was brought to life at Nizhny Novgorod Fair. Thus in 1991 we organized Russian Association of Shows and Conventions (RASC), designed to work for the development of all national expocenters. Valery Nikolaevich Barulin is the RASC vice-president.
Nizhny Novgorod Fair is one of the biggest expocenters in Russia which receives visits of manufactors, politicians, science and culture professionals from Europe, America, and Asia. More than half-million visitors make large-scale deals and attend various exhibitions and congresses at its showgrounds. Representatives of more than 28 countries participate in fair events annually.
Since 2008 Nizhny Novgorod Fair has been winning public tenders for organizing Nizhny Novgorod region Government and enterprise showcases at away exhibitions. Among them there are several national exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Finland, Bulgaria, India, Italy, Germany, France, and African countries. Expos managed by Nizhny Novgorod Fair in Geneva, London, Vienna, Hanover, Rome, Leipzig, Prague, Budapest, Shanghai, Beijing, Brno, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Astana, and other cities received appreciation of global business community and drove the participants to economical and political success.
The fair is the only Russian expocenter, which has the status of UFI (Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) member under two categories: the world-class expocenter and the organizer of international standard exhibitions. Some projects have already gained global recognition, such as scientific and industrial forum “Russia United”, approved by Global Association of the Exhibition Industry/UFI, scientific and industrial forum “Great Rivers”, organized and carried with the assistance of UN, UNESCO, World Meteorological Organization, variety of Russian ministries and authorities.
In 2010 Nizhny Novgorod Fair expocenter was selected as the venue of the world’s largest bus exhibition “Busworld Russia”. Five Russian cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, competed for this right, but Belgian partners opted for Nizhny Novgorod.
